Frequently Asked Questions
What is indoor cycling?
Indoor cycling is a group fitness class led by an instructor and set to specifically choreographed music for the ride. Some instructors get you moving, shaking and dancing on your bike, others are more "zen and zone" and take you on a visual race ride, or anywhere in between. Riders are on indoor cycling specific stationary bikes and are taken through hills, flats, runs and climbs incorporated into a musical journey, resulting in an unbelievable, high intensity, interval cardio workout. An average of 400-700 calories are burned per 60 minute class.
Do I have to be a member of Clementine to take a class?
No. There is no "membership"; you pay as you ride. You can purchase your Rides online or at the Studio. There are a variety of ways to Ride: Choose individual classes, a discounted rate
10 Ride Pass, or an Unlimited Online Ride Pass. Riders manage their own accounts online and can reserve for the week ahead.
What do I need to bring to class?
Bring cycling shoes if you have them (SPD clips preferred) or sneakers, a water bottle; we provide towels.... a necessity for the ride! Any ANT+ heart rate monitor straps are compatible with our Schwinn V2 mPower Consoles which calculate RPMs, heart rate, calories burned, time, and distance.
What should I wear to an indoor cycling class?
The room can get rather warm, we recommend comfortable workout clothes: Bike shorts, capris or leggings, and short sleeve tops or tanks. Avoid loose fitting long pants that could get caught in the pedals or crank shaft. On your feet, wear either cycling shoes with SPD clips, sneakers, or some sort of outdoor shoe with a sturdy sole.
Do I have to wear cycling shoes for the class?
It is not necessary to wear cycling shoes for the class, but you will; experience a better ride if you do. Riding with cycling shoes provides a smoother and more efficient pedal stroke and ride.
Our bikes have clips for cycling shoes with SPD pedal clips on one side of the pedal, and a cage for sneakers on the other side. We also have bikes that accommodate LOOK clips - please contact effie@clementinecycling.com if you need to reserve a LOOK clip bike.
What should I expect my first time indoor cycling?
Expect to have fun during a high intensity, cardio-calorie torching workout! Don't feel intimidated, we've all been a "first timer" to the ride. Please arrive a few minutes early and let the instructor know that you are a first time rider so he/she can help you set up your bike properly, and walk you through the basics of indoor cycling and core movements. Remember to breathe and hydrate during the ride and know that you should go at your own pace when you first start indoor cycling, then work your way up to hardcore! You adjust your own resistance during the ride to determine your pedal speed, depending on flat road or hill climb. Before you know it, your first class is done and you have overcome the first ride hurdle.
When can I expect to see results?
The answer depends on what other kinds of physical activity you are doing. If you are only indoor cycling, we recommend that you take 3 or more classes per week in order to see best results; you will notice a marked increase in your strength, speed, and cardiovascular abilities in a short period of time.
Can I take an indoor cycling class if I am pregnant?
